Whispers at Dusk

Shot in The Japanese Garden in Cornwall at sunset as the light changed from bright to glowing. The couple were amazing and incredibly emotive to capture. The pair both train in acrobatics and as tempting as it was to have Jamie throw Bethany around, we decided not to risk the beautiful dresses (Provided courtesy of The Bridal House of Cornwall).

Bethany rocked both a the elegant design and the quirky short dress as well. It was a perfect setting for the gowns as the theme was very much an embrace of nature and the lighting, although changing during the shoot, allowed for some golden moments.

I wanted a bright, almost overexposed, aesthetic for this shoot, allowing the couple to look etherial and other-worldly. The colouring was challenging for this edit due to the greens and reds bouncing from the plants on to the couple, but the lighting really worked with the look we were going for.

The team were incredible & the shoot could not have been accomplished without such a skilled group.

What a beautiful location set in the bottom of a quiet village in Cornwall. The Rose in Vale has a long garden that runs alongside the cottage-like hotel. Although the weather was awful, the place still looked lovely. The buds are appearing on all the trees and there were even a couple of ducks near the small river than runs by the garden. It was picturesque!

Today i had the pleasure of visiting the Rose In Vale with a wonderful couple who have booked to have their wedding here. We strolled the garden and then hopped in the car to go visit a nearby abandoned engine house right by the coast. It was so windy we nearly got blown over, but it was great to see the locations where the couple will be wed and where we will hopefully be going on their wedding day for their signature shoot!

A beautiful veil can add the finishing touch to a wedding gown, so I have discovered during this delightful photo shoot for Bella Veils! It has amazed me just how much of a difference a veil can make to a bridal outfit. The veils ranged from short and quirky to long and lustrous; some flowing the length of the room while others didn’t even reach the shoulders! Absolutely beautiful.

I had the pleasure of working with 3 incredibly beautiful models to show off the full range of stunning veils.

I have selected just a few of my favourite shots from the shoot but it was so hard to choose as there were so many gorgeous ones (due to the beautiful faces and lovely veils).

This was a very sweet photo shoot as you can imagine! There were hundreds of very sugary products all around me and I have a very sweet-tooth so it was not easy resisting such an amazing collection of goodies!

So many of the products reminded me of my childhood with such treats as Jaw-breakers and Dip-Dab sherbet packs making me wish I was 7 years old again. Amazing how nostalgic it can be to see and smell sweeties that I haven’t had for so many years. I now know that Pennyworths sweet shop in Truro stocks all these wonderful goodies and i have a feeling I will be visiting them often now to satisfy my sweet cravings.

The day whizzed by and at the end, the lovely owners gave me a bag of sweets and a block of fudge, which has to be one of the loveliest extras I have been given after a photo shoot!

What a wonderful morning spent at a fantastic Cornish landmark! Godrevy beach has a wonderful stretch of sandy shores, combined with rocky landscapes and amazing crashing waves!

I was invited by a wonderful couple to come and shoot them and their bump at this beautiful location last weekend and it was just perfect! The weather was bright, with some gorgeous sunshine shining through and there was a haze in the air which made for some dreamy photography.

The couple wanted to remain anonymous, so only shots taken of the landscape and the bump are included in this post

Jess & Harry’s special day was just beautiful from start to finish!

With a huge marquee tent housed in a large field in Gwennap, the couple had created a wonderful space for the reception styled with rustic decor & pink & white pom-poms. Flowers were sourced from the family garden & Jess’s bouquet was beautifully created by her mum with white Buddleia flowers which were just perfect for her dress.

There were hay bail seats, vases created out of old whisky bottles & even a vintage arcade machine playing Street Fighter among others, which was just fantastic & brilliantly entertaining for everyone!

The sun shone from the first light in the morning & only attempted to rain just before the ceremony, where the brides father was able to shield his beautiful daughter with an umbrella. Once the bride was safely in the church the rain stopped & never even threatened to re-appear allowing for everyone to enjoy a sunny, warm & dry day & evening for the reception.

The reception was great fun with a jazz band playing outside & real cornish pasties served inside. It was an absolute pleasure to be there. The speeches were a real treat with 4 best men each saying a few words about the couple. There were many laughs from the crowd! The groom gave a heartfelt speech thanking everyone & especially his lovely bride which got everyone emotional just like the father of the bride’s speech! Just wonderful.

The signature shoot with the happy couple was relaxed, romantic & full of joy & the couple looked so loved up it was hard to miss it. A totally wonderful day from start to finish.

A ships & castles wedding! Pendennis castle was the location for the ceremony for Shirley & Stephen’s big day & what a magnificent building. The strong stone walls made for a grand place for the couple to say their vows & the views outside were breathtaking.

The choice of flowers for the bouquet included sunflowers – which made for sunny, warm, friendly florals – very like the couple themselves.

The beautiful bride told me that she races boats whenever she can as it is a passion for her & so sailing was a strong theme for the wedding day. The cake said it all brilliantly!

The sun was shining throughout the day, making for some beautiful light & the only clouds were little, white, fluffy ones. After the ceremony the couple held their reception at The Marina restaurant in Falmouth where they enjoyed a sunny balcony & several courses of food.

The day was a beautiful collection of emotional moments & joyful celebration & it was my great pleasure to have been there to capture the day.

Bedruthan steps beach is one of my favourite beaches in Cornwall, which is a bold statement to make given that Cornwall has so many lovely beach locations along the North & South coastlines. It was the place that leapt in to my mind when this shoot was first being organised & I was literally praying for nice weather on the day of the shoot – we were very lucky & got a beautifully bright & more importantly; dry day, which allowed the team to work with the models on location without getting soggy.

The title of the shoot really signifies the look & feel that I was aiming to create for this collection of photographs – a dreamy, timeless quality which can often be felt at a beach such as Bedruthan Steps. Standing by the ocean sometimes makes me feel very overwhelmed due to its vastness & endlessness of blue & grey colours. The rocks at the beach make the place feel like a historic ruin; with rocks of all sizes disappearing in to the water, which gives the place a sense of time & fragility.

Colours were selected to be cool & this was highlighted in the jewellery & flowers; with many blues, silvers & turquoise used. The cool tones contrast with the warm skin tones of the models & the clothing – particularly the pink dress & the purple tie.

The Enchanted photo shoot took place at The Japanese Garden in Cornwall, which was the perfect setting for myself & the team to create the look & feel of an Enchanted bride.

The inspiration was taken from ideas about nature & spring, as flowers & plants begin to bloom as we enter that beautiful time of year. The Japanese garden which was created in Cornwall (England) has the beauty of natural plants perfectly balanced with the cultivation of man-made sculpture; allowing for this idea of bridal perfection to be something that is natural & yet created. The dress, which was a Claire Pettibone design, was selected to fit the model (Jennifer Faulks) who had the ideal figure to compliment the earthy, bohemian design. The headwear was also selected to compliment the theme, but we felt that a dramatic piece was suitable & Jennifer rocked it!

The jewellery was hand made by Tegen Jewellery who specialises in bohemian, beachy style pieces, which put the finishing touches to the design & this included rings, necklaces & bangles.

Earth tones of greens and browns mixed with bright reds & oranges were used as the colour pallet for the chosen garden scenes; we even caught a couple of Koi fish swimming by at one point & they happened to be the right colours!

The light changed through out the shoot; one minute the morning sunshine was beaming; creating fierce shadows and highlights, & the next the light clouds rolled over; allowing for a softer, even coverage. The results have allowed for a mixture of imagery & I love this variety!

The team were incredible & the shoot could not have been accomplished without such a skilled group.

It isn’t often you get the chance the photograph your best friend on her wedding day, but when she is marrying your other best friend it is just mind blowing!

My wonderful friends Kelly & Ian were married on 27th June 2015 & as I was a bridesmaid I only photographed the beautiful couple for a quick signature photo shoot in The Japanese Garden (St Mawgan Village, Cornwall).

They were both glowing after they had said their vows & I was in tears through the ceremony. The shoot was very quick as the couple were keen to get to their reception so just a few shots from me in the garden.

Love to you both

Such a lovely family! Kim & Dean & their 3 beautiful sons spent the day out at the beach & asked me to capture their wonderful family. It was a pleasure to spend some time with such a fantastic group & the boys were great fun to photograph.

Tommy the eldest had a winning smile & Charlie had such a cheeky little grin it was so much fun capturing them playing. The newest member of the family; little baby Ronnie, had snuggle time with both his mum & dad & I managed to get a few pictures of the whole family together too.

It was a wonderful day for photographs, with warm, bright sunshine & a bit of a breeze to keep everyone cool too!

This restaurant is a little gem located at Mylor Harbour in Cornwall. I was commissioned to capture the surrounding location around the restaurant, the building & interior space. Each gave me many opportunities to frame creatively & the final photographs reflect the rustic, waterside feeling of the place.

Emily & Simon’s big day was a beautiful adventure & the couple travelled all around Cornwall to celebrate! Starting in the picturesque village of Veryan for the bridal preparations & travelling to Port Loe church where the couple were married; right by the sea was idyllic. After the ceremony a vintage car drove the couple to St Mawes harbour where they boarded a boat with their guests and sailed towards Falmouth.

The weather forecast rain & instead it was glorious sunshine all day!

The Greenbank hotel in Falmouth hosted the wedding party after their boat ride & the wedding dinner was served to tables which each had a Cornish place name marking a variety of classic places. It was a truly beautiful day & it was my absolute pleasure to be a part of it.

The venue was Carbis Bay Hotel where the beautiful model wore a Niomi Neo dress supplied by the Bridal House of Cornwall. The gown was pure elegance & Sasha (our beautiful model) made the shoot work shot after shot. The venue was superb, allowing us to picture some of the spectacular views from the hotel out across the sea.

The beach provided a range of lighting; at points the sun was out in it’s full glory & then it would hide again giving the photographs a range of contrast.

Thank you again to the fantastic team who made this shoot work so brilliantly.

The amazing skies that mirrored the sea for the photo session with Jen Faulks were breath taking. Absolutely beautiful. The model was elegantly clothed in a Claire Pettibone dress provided courtesy of The Bridal House of Cornwall. Think i fell  a little in love with the dress designer due to this photo shoot.

The wind blew the clouds across the sky & a scent of salt filled the air. It was a crisp & bright day; the light had warm tones which complimented Jen’s skin & set the sky off with pink notes.

Thank you again to the fantastic team who made this shoot work so beautifully

A beautiful mid March wedding saw a bright, crisp morning with a rather wonderfully unconventional bridal preparations shoot which included the groom! What a fantastic twist! Vinesh & Jenny spent their morning preparing for the ceremony together & it was wonderful seeing how excited they both were.

Their wedding was incredibly relaxed throughout the ceremony & everyone who attend was thrilled for the lovely couple. Every time I saw the couple look at each other you could see how in love they were. It was impossible to miss & I am pleased to say I caught many of those amazing looks on camera!

The mother of the bride grew a selection of flowers in her garden, dried them & brought them along as home-made confetti, which just made for a personal touch that was absolutely beautiful & the couple enjoyed being covered in no doubt!

It was a pleasure to attend the wedding & capture the special moments of the day & Jenny & Vinesh were a joy to be with.

A superb shoot at Carbis Bay hotel in St.Ives captured the beautiful model, Sarah, in a stunning bohemian grown from The Bridal House of Cornwall.

The January chill in the air kept the model crisply awake & the dress billowing to perfection & the light was gorgeous as it switched from a warm morning glow, to a cool winter tone moment to moment as the clouds rolled in from out to sea.

Its always a thrill to work with such a superb team –
